Everly Kaye Whalen officially became a member of our family on September 19, 2014. We travelled to Dallas, Texas to finalize the adoption.

We did some sightseeing before the big day. This is the Texas book depository, where Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK.
Pioneer Park in Dallas - where an artist recreated a cattle round up at a public park. Very cool.
Everly's adoption finalization took place in Fort Worth. We were all dressed up and ready for the event.
There were several other adoptive families also finalizing their adoptions that day, so there was a special atmosphere in the court room as we waited for our turn.
We promised to be good parents and while we were all under oath, Asher also promised to share his toys.
He then assumed what he believed to be his rightful place, on the judge's seat, gavel in hand.
Afterwards, they had a treasure chest with donated toys for siblings and adoptees.
Asher picked out a stuffed animal for his sister.
We then went out to dinner to celebrate, with one of Sean's old mission companions and his children.
And a Texas-sized/shaped waffle, because it is a Texas sized/shaped waffle, what more could you ask for?
