The annual Albequerque Balloon Fiesta is one of the Southwest's can't miss events!
It was amazing. Over the course of one week, hundreds of hot air balloons from different states and countries all go up in the same place. There are no off limits areas.
You are able to get as close to the balloons as daring and common sense allow. You can talk to the pilots and just enjoy the colors and the scenery of it all.
It truly was a once in a lifetime experience. Asher's gasps of awe and prolonged gaze into the sky made getting up early in the morning well worth it.
Shauna took hundreds of photos and this blog post is what we have condensed it down to...
They tried to inflate a giant cow balloon, but it was unsteady and ended up falling over onto the onlookers...
As we were in the bus taking us back to the parking lot, the balloons were landing all around us.
We returned to the balloon fiesta on that same night, expecting a dusk ascension, but the winds were too strong, so the balloons could not ascend. We still enjoyed a picnic dinner.
