Back in June, we had the luck and the privilege to join some of our greatest friends for a week at the Outer Banks in Duck, North Carolina. I think this must have been one of the most relaxing, fun and real vacations we have had in a long time! We relaxed on the beach, relaxed in the pool, relaxed in the beautiful house we rented, and all in fantastic company :)
A couple of pictures of the house and its backyard...
After we saw this lovely pegasus in our backyard, we noticed that they were all over the Outer Banks, but have no idea of their significance.
The pool in the backyard provided hours of fun. Asher quickly picked up on how to use the water cannons...
And apparently his aim was pretty darn accurate :)
He loved swimming, and we are loving his puddle jumper (life preserver)!
Just a little walk away, we were able to enjoy the perks of the beach - hooray! While I like the beach, it's often not my first choice for a vacation, but I think this vacation may have changed my opinion of beaches. It really was a fantastic week :)
Asher enjoying time with his friends on the beach.
The boys:)
Good lookin' family!
Asher had lots of fun burying Sean in the sand...
Then he wanted to be buried too!
Our cute boy.
Currituck Lighthouse
We took a little trip up the coast to visit the Currituck lighthouse. It was beautiful weather, and fun to walk around a bit.
Asher had a fun time with his friends :)
I love these two :)
They made a new friend!
And of course, you can't end a day without a walk on the beach, and what better way to make it even more fun than to fly a kite!
I love these pictures - dancing with the kite.
Of course when Asher sees a hill, he must climb it...Even when he know he's not supposed to. The sign says: "KEEP OFF THE DUNE." What do ya do?
And he wouldn't leave the dune on his own ;)
Our last day on the beach
So cute ;)
We all know that Asher isn't the most cooperative kid when it comes to family pictures. While we didn't get a good family photo, we got some great ones of just him. Great backdrop for some fun pictures!
King of the sand hill! Our perpetual scowler :)
When his smile does show up in pictures, it is wonderful! He's such a handsome little man.
This picture epitomizes everything that Asher is. I love that we caught it on film!
Father and son. They are so much like each other, it melts my heart and raises my blood pressure all in the same instant ;)
And then there was this moment...oops! But Asher was great. He got right back up and ran it off :)
Thank you Duck for providing all the right elements for a great vacation! Hopefully we will be back next year!
