Mexico!

At the end of June, our family started the beginning our new adventure in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico!  We flew to El Paso, and then drove into our new city, to our new home.

Border crossing - Welcome!

Traffic on the bridge...We had to survive two weeks of driving in the regular lanes before we got our Sentri passes (Sentri is a dedicated lane for pre-cleared travelers, it's like a border crossing ES pass in a personal lane).  It was a rough few weeks - taking an hour and a half to get to church when it should only take 25 minutes can make you question your dedication to your faith.   Let's just say my blood pressure dropped quite a bit when we finally got the passes :)

The wall...

The Rio Grande???  What the heck happened to the water??  This is not what we had expected when we crossed the bridge.

We are officially in Mexico!

We were taken to our new home, and it turned out to be really nice!

Ignore the rug in the above pictures, it was moved somewhere else.  The backyard is one of the best parts of the house.  Trees for shade, and built in grill...

hammock :)

Asher is very much enjoying it!  Our friends let is borrow a couple of toys for Asher.  It was very nice for Asher to have a few more things, considering our UAB shipment, the survival shipment with his toys that was supposed to be there within a couple of days of our arrival, didn't show up for three weeks.  So instead, he got a horse and a balloon :)  That and play-doh that became the saving grace of those three weeks.  Yay for play-doh!!

Our happy boy :)

So far, Mexico has been good.  It was an adjustment, like any move of this nature, but we are in a routine and enjoying our time here.
