Out & About in Juarez

There are a few  places in Ciudad Juarez that we've gotten out to see, and here are a couple of them.

In one of the local malls, they have a Comic book restaurant, called Comix; Sean being a recovering comic book nerd (who are we kidding, he will never recover) thought that Asher would also get a kick out of going, so we decided to give it a try.

Incredible Hulk? Check.

Asher Hulking out like the Incredible Hulk? Check.

Star Wars and other non-comic book items? Check. Why not?

Life-sized Iron Man? Check!

Terrible food?  Check.  I guess you can't expect them to do it all.  While the food was pretty bad, the atmosphere and decor couldn't be beat!

Another place we got to go to was the "La Rododora" Children's Museum, and it was awesome!

They had a giant Dinosaur section where you could dig for bones, and do a lot of other cool archaeological things.  Asher could have stayed here forever :)

There was the cyclone machine, where you were able to feel what it is like to be in a tornado or hurricane...or at least get the gist of it :)

There were fun things to climb on...

But the coolest thing of all was the bed of nails!!  You lay down and then they press a button to raise up the nails and, ta da! You are lying down on a bed of nails!  Pretty exciting!

There were pneumatic tubes (the pressurized ones that propel objects through them) and you were able to put handkerchiefs into them.  The handkerchief would then be sucked into the tube and spit out at the top where you would then try to catch them as they fluttered to the ground.  This provided many, many minutes of fun for Asher, and lots of giggles from Everly.

They had a cave man - hunter/gatherer - exhibit where you would do both after you were told about it by the instructors.  Basically, after sitting in the cave, you had 10 seconds to run out and gather as much as possible, because after that, predators were coming to eat you.  Asher sat and listened, though I'm doubtful he got too much out of it since it was all in Spanish :)  In the end, the faux-urgency of the situation became contagious and he scurried back into the cave before the teddy bear ate them.

Everly even got into it and was gathering the fruit off the "trees"!

And then there were exhibits that either weren't working, or had some other unknown function that we couldn't figure out.  Or maybe it really was just a place to rest and relax.  Who knows!?

There were even a few areas that were age appropriate for Everly, and she was able to get out and play.  Fun for everyone!

Cutie pie.

They had some exhibits where you could dance to lights...or something like that.  Everly and I came around the corner to catch Asher and Sean doing this.  It was very entertaining for all :)

The last section we got to was the "dress up like a worker" area...

And the "let's shop!" area where Asher went through a child-sized grocery store, picked out his own food, and then checked out at the register.  We had a great day here and hope to come back once more before we leave!
