Halloween 2012!

Happy Halloween from the family of Vampires!

It's that time of year again - Sean's favorite holiday!  We brought out all the decorations, and Sean let Asher get very comfortable with them so he wouldn't be scared of them :)

We ordered in some new decorations, and had the scariest house in the neighborhood.  This was not self-proclaimed, instead, several of our neighbors told us.  Most of them were parents of younger children who prefer the cutesy Halloween decorations, but that's not how the Whalens roll.  Needless to say, they were not thrilled about it... sorry friends!

When we were thinking about what Asher would be for Halloween, we had a couple of options.  Two years ago, when Asher was just born, and Halloween had passed, we got some good costumes on sale!  A monkey and robot last year - and they both worked.  A Dinosaur for this year, and a Vampire for next year....

Well, we took out the dinosaur and tried it on... and it was a little too small for Asher :)  Though he did make a cute dinosaur for a few minutes.

Plan B it was!  The 3T vampire costume.  It fit perfectly!! (Plus we could use the pants that came with it for church - Bonus!)

Our cute little vampire.  I tried to slick his hair back, but I have no idea what to use to make curls slick and actually stick down.  If you have any suggestions - let me know!

When Halloween arrived, we were all ready to go out and get us... I mean Asher... some candy ;)

He got the getting candy part, but the fact that he couldn't eat it right away did not make him happy :)

"Eat candy, Mommy!  Candy!!!"

We ran into Elmo while we were trick-or-treating... we were worried Asher was going to maul him, haha.

Instead, he just wanted to touch Elmo's fur - cutie pie.

Our little non-smiling vampire boy :)

Trick or Treating at our house :)

Afterward, we went to a pot-luck party where the kids could run free :)

There was a work Halloween party planned for before Halloween, but due to some important visitors, Halloween got postponed!! But we we able to have the party the following week - even though all the parents and even some of the kids were Halloweened out by that point, but what can you do?

Asher and Dad going trick or treating at work...

Smart kid - Run from the clown, they can't be trusted!!

Oh no! Asher got caught!  He was more nervous than scared, plus he knew who his friend was behind the mask :)

Chillin' with the dead.

Sharing his food...

And making friends... :)

Happy Halloween everyone!

"I'll see you next year!"
