He's 2 Years Old!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Asher!!
Our little man turned two a couple of days ago, and he is such a big boy.  We love him so much and are very grateful that he is in our lives.  He brings us so much joy and laughter.

Couple Days Old                                          1 Year Old!

2 Years Old!

We did a shared birthday again this year with Asher's birthday buddy, Tate.  Tate loves Mickey Mouse, and Asher loves buses and doesn't mind Mickey Mouse.  So we combined them a bit for our celebration.

I made a school bus cake with Georgetown Cupcake cream cheese frosting...yummmm,
that's Asher in the second window and Tate in the third.

Asher enjoyed the decorations...and then took it upon himself to enjoy the cake :)  Caught red handed little man!

He had taken the wheel off the bus and took a little nibble :)

They weren't so excited about the birthday hats :)

Cake time!

He even blew out his own candle - Good job Asher!

Playing with Dad...He wasn't very interested in his cake, though he did like the cookie on top!  I don't understand why he doesn't eat his birthday cakes :)

Happy 2nd Birthday, Boys!

Tate enjoying his cake!

Yay! Cake!

"I see your cake, and it looks good!"
"Don't eat my cake!"
"Yikes! There's frosting on my finger!"

Good friends and family.

After mutilating his cake, he was all done, and ready to relax :)

We didn't end up opening his presents on his birthday because we played outside after his cake until it was bedtime.  When we did, he absolutely understood the concept of presents and opening them.  He opened them all by himself!

Present Time!

Dinosaur Train!  Thanks, Bevans!  And he can actually clip the trains together all by himself without asking mom to do it every five seconds :)  Bonus!!

Playing cars with his buddy.  Look how well they are playing together!  Though there were some moments that both were screaming :)

Matchbox garage - though it's hidden at the moment because he got way too frustrated at some of the parts, so we are giving them both a break :)

Thanks Grammy Whalen!  He loves his airplanes!

Once he was done opening the presents, he walked around the room saying, "More presents?"  Yup, he gets it :)  Can't wait until Christmas!

  • Favorite toy: His school buses - big and small
  • Favorite stuffed animal: Puppy, Elmo, Mickey
  • Favorite color: Red (to his mom's dismay :) )
  • Favorite book: Elmo pop-up book, barnyard animals, His counting book
  • Favorite TV show: Elmo (sigh)
  • Favorite foods: Fajitas, tacos, pizza and cucumbers
  • Favorite things to do: Play outside, jump on couches, ride his trike, jump on dad, taking toys from other children :)
  • Favorite song: The Wheels on the Bus, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
  • Favorite thing to wear: Alligator shoes, Colts hat
  • Favorite people (other than his parents, of course): Jonas, Tom, Florida, Mereme
  • Newest, Most Frequently Spoken Word: Truck with a capital "F"
This last one was a new mispronounced word he acquired on his birthday.  It's a little jarring when you hear your two year old yell, "Truck" from the other room - only with an "f" sound instead of the "tr" sounds - oops!  He has been swearing loudly and proudly over the past week.

The funniest moment in Asher's lifetime award comes from this past weekend... We were in church on Sunday :)  Asher was playing with his trucks during sacrament meeting, when one of them rolled off of his chair.  He went to get it, and when he couldn't quite reach it, the result was him yelling quite clearly, "truck, Truck, TRUCK!!!!!"  This left half of the people in church trying to contain their laughter - sorry missionaries who were sitting right behind us for the profanity! :)  And most of the people laughing we didn't even think knew English.  Apparently, they know some words!  This goes up on the list of "Proud Parent Moments" :)

Since then it's been all "truck" and "big truck" every day.  We are going to have to kick him of his swearing problem :)

We had a great second birthday with Asher.  We are amazed at how fast he is growing.  Over the past few months, his vocabulary had exploded, and he is pretty good at communicating what he wants.  He is settling in well to his new schedule with me going back to work for a day and a half a week.  Instead of crying when I leave, like he used to, now, when his babysitter comes in, he turns to me waving, and says, "Bye Mom, bye-bye".  He's such a special boy, and we are so happy he is in our lives.  We love every moment we can have with him!

  1. He's completely related to me, I don't like cake either, Asher. He is so handsome and I love that one of his favorite things to do is to take toys away from other kids...made me laugh. Sean has taught him well!
